Suzu Kanade (花奏すず, Kanade Suzu) is the main female protagonist of Ayakashi Triangle. She is a childhood friend of Matsuri Kazamaki and the Ayakashi Medium. Later, due to Shirogane's situation, she would become the King (Queen) of the Ayakashi.
Appearance[]
Suzu wears her high school uniform which consists of a black sweater with yellow tones, a black skirt with yellow tones, a white formal shirt with a green tie. During her spare time she is seen wearing hooded vests. She often wears a hairpin in her hair as it symbolizes her friendship with Matsuri. Her hair is purple and short.
Personality[]
Suzu is a very empathetic person, and especially with Ayakashi, with whom she developed a strong bond since her youth. She is oftenly seen caring for them, using her powers to heal them, or trying to fix the problems they encounter, which made most of them fond of her. Her caring and generous nature makes her also compassionate towards her enemies, she is shown able to sympathize with their situation and feel emotionally involved in their struggles and motives. She avoids hurting them even in a life or death situation, and would even go to the extent of crying over their death, she'd rather try to convince them to stop their mischiefs than fighting and killing them. In general, she tries her best to use her powers to help people around her regardless of their motives or personality.
Suzu is also really passionate about love, making up all kind of plans to make Matsuri Kazamaki fall for her, and is determined to not let her rival in love, Reo, have the upper hand on this matter. She is depicted as having a strong libido, Shirogane describes her as "shameless", her mind oftenly wandering to lewd thoughts, mostly involving Matsuri and what she wants to do with him. She also sometimes act ouf of her sexual attraction to Matsuri, trying to seduce him, feel his body or kiss him.
Finally, Suzu has a soft spot for sweet food, she's quite oftenly seen eating sweets, or craving them. Her love of sweets is so intense that she sometimes dreams about them.
Plot[]
Suzu sees Matsuri catching an ayakashi cat, and she takes it from him, commenting that he is harmless. She takes him elsewhere, commenting that they used to be spend time with Matsuri and ayakashi, but as he took over his family business of ninja exorcist, he started telling her to stay away from the ayakashi. Shirogane tells her he is the King of Ayakashi and that Suzu is an Ayakashi Medium, having energy over the charts that make her desired snack for all ayakashi. As he transforms into his original form, wanting to eat her, Matsuri shows up and they start fighting. Eventually Matsuri manages to use a scroll to seal most of Shirogane's power, but Shirogane uses a jutsu turning Matsuri into a girl.
Powers & Abilities[]
As a result of being the Ayakashi Medium, Suzu is said to be as much Ayakashi as she is human. Being the Ayakashi Medium also means she has an incredible amount of Haku, the life energy that flows in all living beings. Besides, unlike other human beings, Suzu can manipulate her Haku, something she's done unconsciously in the past. Garaku claims this ability to be worthy of being an Ayakashi God, as she can use it to perform miraculous deeds for Ayakashi, such as healing wounds or nullify curses. She used this ability unconsciously to control the octopus created by Garaku and make it protect her but once she learned about her ability, she quickly improved her control of it to the point of consciously perform a lot of different things with it.
Omokage[]
An omokage is a cloned Ayakashi of a human being, created by a great amount of haku energy leaving their body. Suzu's Omokage manifested for the first time without her being aware of it. The Omokage is linked to Suzu's actual body, she can see through its eyes, or feel whatever the Omokage feels, which means hurting the Omokage will directly hurt Suzu herself. After she learned how to control her Haku, Suzu's been able to consciously summon her Omokage and control its actions, even while letting it go to a remote place, however if she's emotionally shocked, the omokage instantly vanishes. As she progressed in her control of her Omokage, she proved to be able to change its size, making it very small to sneak in different places. She is also able to create multiple mini Omokage at once. Even though she seems to have a perfect control of it, her Omokage once acted on its own and almost confessed to Matsuri when she had a hard time repressing her feelings. Being entirely made of Haku, Omokage are considered as Ayakashi, but since they take form of the human being they originated from, they are visible to humans which means Suzu has to be wary when using this ability in the presence of people.
Origami[]
By adding her Haku energy to origamis, she can control them and use them as very quick projectiles. However, due to her personality, she never uses them to hurt Ayakashi or people
Ayakashi Maiden Form[]
By connecting with Kanade and Shadow Mei, Suzu can access the Ayakashi Maiden's true power. In this state her abilities increase drastically with Life Halo in back.
Life Halo[]
Having the powers of Amaterasu, Suzu is able to use the Life Halo to strengthen these capabilities.
Luminous Wind Blast of Love[]
A combined attack with Matsuri. This attack combines the ninja exorcist arts with the powers of the ayakashi medium. This attack is so powerful that it can defeat older ayakashis humanoid Jinyo such as the Gogyosen.
Relationships[]
Matsuri Kazamaki[]
He is Suzu's best friend and love interest, although at first she and Matsuri used to play with the ayakashi over time and due to Matsuri's work both grew apart, it would not be until Shirogane's arrival that Suzu would understand Matsuri's actions becoming close friends again, due to various situations Suzu would confess her feelings to Matsuri being reciprocated and leaving her as a promise that when Matsuri becomes a man she would start dating.
Shirogane[]
Due to Suzu's love for the ayakashis, Suzu would try to help Shirogane when Matsuri wants to exterminate him, after knowing Shirogane's true intentions and Matsuri's gender change, Suzu decides to make a deal with him by helping him return to his original form if he helped Matsuri to become a man again. Shirogane would pose as a stray cat found by Suzu. Over time, Shirogane has become protective of Suzu being the one to stop Suzu from acting or thinking perverted things.
Ritta Kanade[]
Ritta is Suzu's younger brother.
Etymology[]
- The name Suzu is written in hiragana (すず), which has no special meaning. However, when written in kanji (鈴), it could possibly mean "bell."
- Suzu's surname Kanade means "flower performance" (花奏).
